David Zwirner’s gallery runs in New York, Los Angeles, London, Hong Kong, and Paris, and the website supports a big roster of artists and exhibitions. They were preparing to move the site off Sitecore CMS and into Sanity, while also ending the relationship with the partner who owned the Sitecore build. They needed someone who could explain what was running and leave clear notes for the team taking over.
I came in as a Sitecore + Azure subject matter expert. I mapped the full deployment process, including how Sitecore was released to Azure, what services were in play, and how each environment was set up. I documented what we found, pointed out what was safe to scale down, and wrote a practical runbook so the internal team could support the platform during the handoff.
I also created a disaster recovery and business continuity plan, with steps for backups, restores, and “what happens if this breaks” situations. On the migration side, I helped the content team understand where the data lived in Sitecore and shared PowerShell scripts and patterns to pull content out cleanly for the move into Sanity.
This was a short, focused engagement over a couple of months to reduce risk during the transition. If you’re planning a CMS migration or need help documenting and stabilizing a legacy Sitecore setup, explore our Sitecore consulting and cloud operations services.
